From our 16+ years of experience in the remodeling and design business our artisans and sales staff have been known to make accurate design predictions. So this year we are taking a quick look at home design and countertop trends and making predictions for 2021.

  1. Let’s live in color.

While the white everything look has circulated into all of our home for the past several years we are predicting bold splashes of color to compliment the modern white look. Let’s make room for color cabinets with neutral countertops. This trend is already seen in the form of neutral greens and blue islands with gray quartz countertops or veining white granite. Designers and home re-modelers are sure to make a statement with bright, warm colors. Warm colors will push people away from the traditional white of marble to granite or quartz that comes in hundreds of hues and tones. Even quartzite will make an appearance with its astounding number of colors that will bring any space into the roaring 20s. Moreover, porcelain like quartz, a man-made material, will be sure to have hundreds of options for making a vibrant pop of color in any space.

2. Mismatch yes please.

Emerald Pearl’s owner and founder, Helio Muneton says, “It is time for a change. I predict dark colors to match the white countertops.” In deed we have already seen dark grays and black and white cabinets to compliment glittering gold faucets. Home furniture will not be the only thing to say Iit’s ok that we are not a complete match.” Two toned countertops will be the talking point of every kitchen. We already installed several kitchen countertops this year with white countertops and bold black islands that are sure to be a show stopper.

However, do not stop at white and black. Go ahead and mismatch your cabinets while keeping a neutral countertop to keep it all together. All the Pinterest lovers are sure to have seen hunter green or navy blue cabinets that compliment and brighten white or black cabinets across the kitchen. What else do these mismatched cabinets have in common? Neutral countertops that bring it all together. Think about a Mystic Gray quartz or a Colonial White granite to carry through those pops of mismatch.

Emerald Pearl owner, Helio Muneton says, “It is not just about surface colors that mismatch but even the materials themselves.” Try thinking of honed or unpolished granite islands complimenting shiny kitchen countertops. That not only adds an interesting layer but texture to a space.

3. eco - friendly

Environmental sustainability is in… as it should be. When it comes to the space you choose for your home or business it is important to think about every detail, even the surfaces you will lay your elbows on. There are many environmental options when it comes to countertops. For instance, man-made materials like quartz, corian, and porcelain do not involve quarries or a larger amount of waste. Since these are man-made products it also is easier to find a color and surface type that suites your fancy. Additionally, there is not much variation in the material so what you see in a photo or sample is very likely what will end up in your space. Emerald Pearl is dedicated to bringing sustainability into our shop. That is why we have taken several steps to reduce waste in our office, warehouse and the materials we use.
